In this work Barbara depicts the Tingari women – represented by the U shapes– as they perform ceremonies for the bush apple, a vital food for western desert people. They dance with their digging sticks, two of which are shown in the painting.
The country is sandhill country and the background of the painting symbolises the colour of sand. The iconography used can also be read as representative of the body paint worn.
