Cindy Nakamarra Gibson has inherited her mother Mitjili Napanangka Gibson's love of strong colour and texture in her paintings. They sing with energy and vibrancy.
In this painting, Kunamanarra and Wirnparrku, she is depicting the country after rain with wildflowers in abundance. The sites represented are two table top mountains in the western desert. Kunamunarra, a low ridge rock face which contains a native well and Winparrku, a round table top hill. This is her mothers’ country and an area that is deeply significant for both Mitjili and Cindy.
